I don't know who invented it, but the new Craftsman Sidewinder Tape Measure has got to be one of the top ten inventions to come along in a long time. Not only does it not fall over but it stays extended until you want it closed. The notepad on back and the edge grabber clip as well as the tape staying upright were inspired.

The Sidewinder Tape measure is great for its intended use to measure lumber at your cutting area It is no good for use as a normal Tape Measure The flat laying feature is great for measurements on boards laying flat however I did find a few problems I did not care for 1. No belt clip strictly a bench top tool 2. It has a very thin and flimsy blade 3. The inch marks are not carried though on the entire width of the Tape The center meters markings make it confusing Over all it is great to keep at the saw where you measure and cut but it is not a working mans Tape measure it is still worth the twenty bucks I spent for it and I will continue to use it also the note pad is handy

This tape measure is LARGE, in fact much bigger than the average ones. But it works as advertised. I personally like the auto-locks feature. it is primarily designed to be laid flat on a work bench or similar.

This is everything a tape measure should be. It lies FLAT when is leaves your hands! No more tipping over when you let go of it. Just one minor flaw, this is minor now, the tape measure does not have a belt clip. Other than that, this is what a tape measure should be. I highly recommend.
