I own 2 Nesco dehydrators, and often make my own beef jerky. I had always used Kobe beef and London Broil top sirloin. Everyone likes my jerky as I marinate it for 24 hours first, then dehydrate it over night. I decided to buy this Nesco jerky gun and use ground 96 percent lean ground sirloin because it was cheaper to pass out ground beef instead of Kobe beef. The instructions are VERY easy to follow, and the nesco flavor packs that come with the jerky gun allow you to produce a fairly decent product. I can't leave anything alone though, and often I will change up or modify the stock flavor packets now and then. They come in many different flavors for you to choose from. I like to add in such things as fresh ground smoked pepper, liquid smoke, dried onions and garlic, A 1 pound pack of lean ground beef will produce about 2 trays of jerky. The jerky gun comes with 3 different tips to choose from. A round one that produces a pepperoni sized stick, a large wide tip for approx: 1.25 inches or so, and a tip that makes 2 1/2 inches strips side by side. It takes about 8 hours to dehydrate the jerky depending on how dry you want it to be. I prefer mine fairly dry as it is easy to bag it and keep it around for a while. I find the pieces easy to hand out to my friends when they come around. You can make the jerky in any length you wish by just squeezing the handle to get that length. Let off on the hand pressure and the jerky stops coming out. Just that easy. Read full review

It actually works! Not bad for a piece of plastic. I'm using it to make flax crackers as well as jerky which is cool. Way easier than rolling out ground meat for sure. Takes a few passes before you get the coordination of speed and squeezing the handle for even sticks but it's easy to get used to. I make jerky and crackers every week so it's well worth the money. I would have given it 5 stars if it would have cost less and didn't come with the toxic flavored preservatives.

I use it to make chicken jerky treats for my dogs. I grind up chicken breasts and this jerky gun makes it quick and easy to put the strips on the dehydrator tray. I also make beef jerky for us. Really a handy little tool. Price is right , too!
