power to run a dewalt metal saw or a grinder!!!! I had given up using these tools because of lack of power and short battery charge life. know all the dewalt tools are super charged. what a great thing for and old tool. even a impact has more power. Instead of buying new tools buy a more powerfull battery with a longer charge life to put old trusted tool back in service for another 10 years!!!! short charge time. good luck! I am smiling!

Be aware, I paid nearly $100 a peice for these batteries. They are the so called upgrade to the 9180 57wh but these are only 36wh, with about half the life which requires frequent recharging as they only last 15-20 minutes opposed to the 9180s that lasted 35-45 minutes.

Great replacement for ni cad originals. The batteries are a bit smaller and a lot lighter than the original ni cad XRPs that came with the drills. We use 5 identical drills in an industrial environment so the ni cads deteriorated rather quickly due to poor charging habits. The lithium ion batteries shouldn't have that problem so we were able to avoid costly replacement of all the drills and they are easier to use because the batteries are lighter. Win win for us.

They are very light compared to the DC9096. DC9096 will start dropping voltage and the tool you are using starts drawing more amps and I have brunt up a couple of tools. With the DC9182 this does not happen. So you have full voltage power and amps till it stops and you need to change it. So far I can not think of anything bad to say about the DC9182 except the cost but I will still be buying only these when I need to replace my DC9096.l

Its a good value and certainly lighter then the older models. I have some of the older models and the only drawback to the new one is the cost. I can have my old batteries rebuilt for $49.00 each and one so far has lasted a couple years. If I didn't have any old ones I would order more new ones in a minute and i still ordered 1 new one anyway. I'm sure I'll order more in the future.
