This is a great value when it comes to irrigation controllers if you have a need for six or less valves. There is also a 12-valve model. Installation was simple, and includes water resistant wire nuts to connect control wires to valves. The unit I purchased was previously installed and would not sync to my router, but a 10 minute phone call to Orbit and supplying the MAC address was all it took to return the controller to like-new status and it synced to my router in just a few seconds. Set up is very easy, and the software allows selection of soil type and plant type for each watering zone, which is perfect for my needs -- I have four zones: (1) 8 raised beds with flowers, herbs, and vegetables, plus a couple of small trees in containers; (2) rose bed with a pomegranate thrown in for good measure, (3) a row of mixed dwarf citrus trees, and (4) another raised bed for vegetables. All of my irrigation is drip. the (1) raised beds are all subterranean placements. My old Hunter controller had a "weather monitor" installed, and it works perfectly with the Orbit, but may actually be unnecessary due to the Internet weather-influenced "smart watering" feature that modifies the amount of time to water each zone based on soil type, plants, and monitored weather conditions and forecasts. I'm very happy with this controller. I'm sure you will be too. I saved over $50 compared to buying a new unit at Home Depot.Read full review

The reason for my no recommendation is that this controller will not work with lots of different pump start relays. It only seems to want to work with the Orbit relay. I tried two different relays. When you contact the company, they keep pointing you toward a bad relay or motor, even when you tell them your system was working the day before you changed controllers. I went to the Orbit forum and saw many problems the same. This is a design flaw in the controller and should be addressed by Orbit. The good cost of the controller is outweighted by the 50 bucks you'll have to spend for the 6 dollar Orbit pump start relay packaged in a 40 dollar plastic box. The controller works very well once it's working.

This is ridiculously easy to install and set up. Programming from the phone app or PC is so much better than having to do it directly on the box. I really love the ability to walk around the yard and testing the different zones and heads without having to keep running back and forth between each one and the box.

I bought my Orbit b-hyve sprinkler controller for complete convenience. I wanted a wireless controler that I could remotely program and operate from anywhere, and this unit delivered 100% satisfaction! The controller was very easy to connect using my smart phone and it also gives you the ability to make any changes from your computer after you establish your Orbit online account. The unit is new and I have only been using it a little over a week; however, I have not noticed any negative issues and it works perfectly as described by the manufacture. I did contact Orbit customer service to clarify a question regarding "smart watering" and the woman I spoke with could not have been more helpful or knowledgeable. The unit also works with my Amazon Echo! All-in-all, I am 110% satisfied with my Orbit b-hyve wireless sprinkler controller and I would definitely recommend this company/product as I know, you would not be disappointed!Read full review

This wi-fi enabled timer works great, better than other remote-controlled timers with a hand-held controller. Cell phones and cell towers use much stronger signals, so I have no more trouble testing zones when I'm around back behind a home or behind a building. I have FOUR of these now installed at my own and two other family homes. I have complete success - now I can focus on the sprinklers and plant material instead of the timer. The ONLY critique I have is that a few things in the interface are hard to find. For example, turning on and off messages from the timer when it completes watering, and turning on and off the synchronization with the local weather report. But that's really minor when compared to all the other things this timer does well. And with automatic phone software updates, this will eventually get straightened out. So just buy one of these 6 or 12-channel models and don't wait any longer. I think you'll be pleased with the results.Read full review
