I live in the swamp so this was a necessity, I have 4 of these around my yard and they all stay active especially when the sun goes down. I had a spot that bugs were more active than the other areas so that is where I placed this one. Before the end of the night this thing killed so many bugs I had to clean it off. After I did that I checked on it a few more hours later and was getting full again. Highly recommend worth the money.

During the day, there's enough ambient light to make the UV light in the zapper ineffectual. It simply doesn t attract them. But at dusk/night? Oh yeah, I hear it zapping the tar out of whatever ventures near.

Not sure about mosquitoes or flies, yet to be tested. Good looking product, plastics seem a little fragile, borderline flimsy. However this does not affect function and should not really cause problem unless dropped on floor or mishandled during shipping. I had mine internationally shipped and came in two box unfortunately none of them of the sturdy type. Not surprisingly outer box had a huge dent on it too! It was only due to luck that product didn’t get demaged, which I was very happy for!! Good value for money I suppose and works with mains power so definitely a killer machine. Assembly was probably done in a rush as there were few loose screws, not the end of the world though. Overall I am happy with product so far, got rid of loads of angry wasps with it.

Not as powerful as the old BK-40d I had but a great little zapper for the price. Kills more bugs than another 15 watt model I have. Same bulb but the grid is below it. Uses less power than the 40 watt model but still pretty bright. Does seem to hum louder but it is outside so it is not a issue. Another well built Flowtron zapper.
