Works Perfect - I purchased this item USB 3.0 2.5" External Aluminum Case for HDD for Computer Hard Drive. My HDD Hard Drive is a 500GB came out my 10+ year old Dell Inspiron 15Z Laptop, served me well for many years, but died. First I need to tell you that I did not understand about the 2.5" thing because my HDD is 2.75" wide, when my Laptop died and I needed to get access to my files, my situation was my HDD was wider than 2.5 inches, and I did some research and no one talks about this issue, so I took a chance based on my research and purchased this one, I was very surprised it Fits Perfectly inside, even though my HDD is 2.75" wide, and also the connector plugs perfectly on my HDD drive, works perfect and looks great, also the USB 3.0 wire is THICK. I rate this item 5 Stars, for Quality, Performance and Looks, even the leather case cover is nice. I now have access to ALL my data files stuff that was on my old pc. Thank You eBay for Excellent Products.Read full review

Very easy to set up and use but very poor construction. Front SATA connector is glued to the flimsy plastic piece that slides into the cheaply made "tin foil" case that is held in place with two very tiny screws. I literally had to scrape the glue off the front piece so it would slide into the case. They do give you a very tiny screw driver to put the screws in the front of the case, hope you have good eyes. They also give you a cheap, poorly constructed travel pouch. The entire unit looks and feels like it was made in a backroom in China by a blind guy with one hand! DO NOT order this product. It is very cheaply constructed. The wholesale price is probably not more than .50 cents and they are making over 500% profit on selling close to $10. They will not give you a refund, they will only tell you that they can give you an EXCHANGE for another piece of junk. I don't see how they stay in business with such poor customer service relations.Read full review

I just bought my second of these enclosures. I have installed a 500GB rotating drive and a 320GB rotating drive in them. Both are functioning perfectly and show good speed. There is one thing to be aware of, and this is true for all enclosures powered from the USB cable. There can be some variance in power from different USB connectors on a computer. If you are having trouble, try a different USB port. For standard desktop computers I have had the best luck with the rear USB ports. Use a USB 3.0 (blue) port if possible. Avoid the use of extension cables that can drop the voltage. I have successfully used my enclosures with a powered USB hub.

The item arrived poorly packaged and was dented in several places. It also did not come with the small screws needed to secure the drive in the case. When I receive my hard drive will try and get it to fit in case and see if I can find some screws to hold it in. Very poor all around. The electronics and the socket to receive the drive look to be mounted somewhat crooked in the front plate. I don't know if this will place the drive at a sharp enough angle to contact the inside of the case or perhaps not fit at all. Best case scenario it fits with the dents and I have to take time out to search for some screws that will work. Worst case its unusable.

It's a nice, solid, attractive aluminum case, and it works fine. And it's nice that the USB cable and mounting screws (and screwdriver) are included. But: 1. The included screws are smaller than the holes in any of my HDDs, and the screws that fit those are too big for the holes in this case, so the HDD is just held in the case by the connector. 2. The connector is held into the end cap with a couple pieces of putty, but the connection with the HDD itself--the way the HDD plugs into the connector--is stronger than the putty. Every time I remove the end cap the connector comes out and remains connected to the HDD, so I have to pull it off by hand. I feel like I got my money's worth, I guess, but I'd try another one next time.
