THE REASON I DECIDED TO BUY THIS CD, IS THAT I HAD THE TAPE WHEN THIS FIRST CAME OUT IN '93 AND LOST IT. ALWAYS HAVE LIKED ALICE IN CHAINS. ONE OF THE BEST GROUPS OF THE '90'S IN MY OPINION. I ALSO WANTED TO SEE HOW BUYING MUSIC ON EBAY WENT, VERY COOL AND SATISFIED ALL AROUND.

The Seattle grunge movement of the late eighties spawned many a band, and Alice In Chains was one of the most well-known, as well as one of the more traditionally metallic (more so than they are given credit for). Their crooning harmony vocal style has been imitated by many bands over the last decade, certainly enough to qualify them as an influential band. Well-publicized drug problems (mostly centering around Layne Staley) surfaced as early as the Dirt era, making it rather plain that the band was probably not going to survive long term. They have been dormant for several years, during which time guitarist Jerry Cantrell has embarked on a successful solo career.
A bastion of the Seattle grunge scene, the growling vocals by Layne Staley made this one of the best rock albums ever.
