Great music that is one of a kind, I far I can remember I don't believe I have heard this type of music for any other film. It not only was mesmerizing but told a story in of itself. All in all a Classic of an era gone by. If you haven't seen the movie then check it out, I believe I had heard in an interview that it was an inspiration for Star Trek as it follows a similar pattern in the make up of the story elements. The music was one of a kind to say the least. Check it out, you may find it enjoyable. Be well everyone and on to Altera.

This is what there is, since Louis and Bebe Barron never wrote a notated music score for this. The importance of their music to the final character of the movie is huge. This is a transfer to CD of the vinyl disc they produced. Therefore, it stands in for a notated score. Differences between the 23 movements on this disc and the cued music of the movie are described in the film score guide book by James Wierzbicki. Evidently the story goes like this: Dory Schary of MGM hired the Barrons to do special sound effects for the movie. Ambitious Louis insisted on doing a whole work. It ended up being the entire adiegetic* part of the sound track (and much of the diegetic part as well). It IS music! *not sounds of events in the script
It was EVERYTHING that I remember as a kid. And as an ADULT , it is the type of music that takes me AWAY from THIS WORLD and into the world of my future , unfettered mind! As "BOB HOPE " used to sing, "THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES..............."
Well worth the price!

Forbidden Planet is one of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time. No other sound track would have worked with this movie. The music and eerie sound effects are perfect. From the main title music to the ID monster sounds. Louis and Bebe Barron are geniuses.
