great mid 60s garage music

All these Back From The Grave compilations, on CD or LP, are worth having...if you want to know where punk and new wave and psychobilly, etc. etc. came from....and I just need to track down volume 8. Despite whatever wanker is responsible for the b.s. artwork and liner notes, it's a great collection of rare songs that Time/Life is never gonna have a late-nite infomercial for. And the thought of having all this on an iPod is just ridiculous...the cd's at least come with interesting pictures, including copies of old newsprint and pictures of the actual 45 rpm records from whence these rarities came. What can I say? If you're at your wits end and bored with modern music (which really IS in the grave, including the tired cookie-cutter products that alternative rock & metal de-evolved into) then these rockin' relics are quite lively by comparison, and the sound on the cd's are great. Paul McCartney said that if you got past the hype, punk really just came down to some great rock n roll. That's why I'm here writing this now. I also recommend the Nuggets compilation box set(s).
