here we have the official release documenting the end/beginning of two great bands. main man josh homme goes for a slight stylistic change in musical style, going from the heavier, down tuned, guitar thru the bass amp, raw sounding music of kyuss to the more produced sounds of qotsa. this is not a critisism!! qotsa has songs that are indeed raw and down tuned but the change in styles is noticable. kyuss formed, perhaps single handedly what has come to be known as'stoner rock'. qotsa took some of these traits and added more dynamics and texture ending up with a sound somewhere between stoner rock and hard rock ready for the radio. this cd has all that a fan of both bands could want-only in short quantity. the down tuned guitars and freak jamming of kyuss is well represented by three songs and the slight stylistic changes that i mentioned in regard to qotsa are also evident with there songs. this cd rocks and is a legitmate piece of underground rock history on plastic. when a band breaks up only to have central members of said band form a new group you have the old and then the new. with this disc you have both side by side. we all know kyuss and qotsa rock, now here them do it on the same stage!!Read full review
