feels a little bit funny writing a review 32 years after the fact but here it goes: SUBLIMITY: i dont care about sports, politics or money (enough). music is my religion and chaka is 1 of the few that is gifted beyond words. this disc is worth the price alone for dont talk to strangers.she channels all her influences: billie, sarah etta and even a touch of nina to make it all her own (CHAKA).RUFUS is as funky as ever, n chaka is the icing on the cake. i wish i could go back in time and witness this stuff in the early 70s!!!.. absolutely necessary 4 all chaka /rufus fans!!! p.s. all musicians on this record are tops!! with an extra nod 2 JOE SAMPLE. OMG!
One of the great recordings of all time. Chaka at her best; the group as funky as ever. A must for any fan of Rufus or Chaka. My original LP albums were worn nearly to dust, so when the CD set came out, I ordered it immediately and am busy trying to wear it out as well. I believe Chaka Khan to be the greatest living female vocalist, notwithstanding Aretha and others. Always on-key, perfect control and phasing. But this recording is her best. Don't miss it.
