What I most enjoy about this may, ironically, disincline fans of Purim's 70's recordings from buying it, as she and husband Airto employ a more deliberately mainstream Jazz approach. Although there are no synths or electric bass-lines, this not simply another program of familiar standard tunes-- far from it ! Both Purim's singing and the accompaniment are both consistently fresh and invigorating-- there's nothing tired or overly predictable, here. Purim and company manage to retain the Brazilian flavor without venturing into the slickness typical of much funk-inflected 70's Fusion.
