Has good power for what is worth. Very easy to just get it out and running. See if you can get it openbox or used, there are better trimmers for the same price as this ryobi. Here is why the product has some trouble: -Range of the string is very short, your forced to get in close to what your cutting. -Debre guard blocks your view when you have it in edging mode. Cant see what your doing so you have to have this awkward stance while moving the thing, which might ruin your straight line. -Everytime you spin this thing from complete stop, it feeds more string. So your forced to keep the trigger held down as your moving about, which encourages dangerous operation of the tool. Very wasteful on string. When edging it makes sense since you cant bump feed if the head is tilted 90 degrees.. Still a great tool if you can get it for cheap.Read full review

I don't recommend buying this Ryobi weed trimmer. You can't use this weed eater on demand to conserve battery power. Every time you let go of trigger it automatically feeds more string; causing you to waist a lot of string.. It feeds so much string it broke the excess string cutter blade on shroud housing in first use of trimmer..

I have a bad back and I'm 73 years old and it is the the unit was so light and easy to use it was much better than my other heavy weed eaters it might be light to some but are heavy to me this one was just right and it worked well the battery lasted about 1/2 hour continual use my body only lasted about 1/2 hour anyway so it worked out just about right happy camper.

I bought this for use around my 1/4 acre property. I already own a Ryobi 18v drill with 2 batteries (lower Ah). So, I figured I could always use one if those 2 as a backup if needed. The battery for the trimmer is 4Ah, so it's more powerful. I get 30+ minutes of run time on the hi setting. This 5hing is no as powerful as my old gas weed eater but it gets the job done. It edges the walk surprisingly well. I like that I can just grab it and start trimming - no gas, smoke or noise. It's fairly well-built. I am not crazy about the aautomatic line advance. I prefer the "bump" style. The line seems to break too easily and it's constantly refeeding. Maybe fresh line will help. Otherwise, I am happy with it and hope it lasts for several years. We'll see.

The most favorable feature is its long reach. It allows me to do my edging without bending at the waist. The motor is quite powerful which probably accounts for some added weight. I have two lighter and shorter Ryobi trimmers which perform well, but cause some lower back stress because of their length.
