Everything runs good. 65% on air filter. Is expected. Good value. Although, chain was sharpened at a bad angle. Not a problem as long as a new one wasn't had to be purchased. Took it in to get sharpened. Bar was in great shape. Full wrap handle and west coast clutch cover A+++

Received the saw with a broken chain brake and it would not start. I spent $200 dollars replacing the fuel line which was cracked and disconnected and putting a new chain break on.

I bought a used MS361 here on eBay after having an MS390. I had used a 361 when working with a disaster clean up crew, that crew had a dozen MS361s that saw extremely hard day in day out use. The equipment manager swore by them as the best saws he had. I have about 3 years of 5 full cord a year hardwood firewood cutting on this saw and it has been trouble free. I have the 20" bar and that seems like a good length for me, I am tall and the fairly long bar saves me some bending over. For working with bigger hardwood it seems to have a good balance of sufficient power without being ridiculously heavy. If you seldom need to cut more than 12" it may be more saw than you need. I would say at about 16" of hardwood I will switch to my 660 for it's greater speed and power. The 660 has more power for sure but comes with a real weight penalty. The 361 will even serve for some crotch cutting duty, with enough power to get through near full length rip cuts. I find I like to clean the air filter fairly frequently. I would buy another 361, it is hands down better than the 390. I am 56 years old and have been cutting fire wood for 15 years. Update: I'm 60 now, the saw has four more years of trouble free firewood duty on it. It has a 2 thumbs up rating from me.Read full review
The Metal is s little thicker than the old spikes. Had to grind down the inside dog spike to fit properly but overall I'm very happy with them. Nice and beefy, no chance of bending due to cheap thin metal! Thanks!

If you lament not buying a 361 new when Stihl was still building them, this is the best alternative. I could have found a used one, and taken a gamble on its condition. This is better- brand new, quality Stihl parts, expertly assembled. It's not cheap, but neither is a clean used one, or the newer model to the 361. So, I felt, and still do, that this is a great value.
