This is the first book in a series by Daniel Silva. The author has an interesting past and I was compelled by friends to read his works. I've read about half of the book to date. The plot is plausible, but so far the action seems to be spotty and the language is rougher than my usual favorite Clive Cussler books. I'll stick with it through the end and hopefully be pleased enough to read the other Silva books that I've accumulated. If the language isn't a problem, I think you will enjoy the spy novel.
This is the first of a series of espionage thrillers featuring the protagonist Gabriel Allon. His "cover" or "day job" is that of an art restorer, one of the best in the world. But he was formerly an agent of the Israeli secret service, the Moussad. In this book and in the ones that follow he keeps getting drawn back into the Moussad to do jobs for them. One of the things I like about the novel is that the author shows both the Israeli and the Palestinian sides of this long-lasting conflict. There are good guys and definite bad guys. But there are also many shades of gray.
Have read some of his other books, but wanted to go back and get the start on lead character Gabriel Allon, fantastic author, lots of action. I highly recommend any Daniel Silva book.

The book arrived quickly. In a little rougher shape than described, a lot more marks and tape than listed. BUT...that won't affect its readability.

Daniel Silva is the best writer of spy novels I've read. The stories are as close to reality as they can be.
