This is a wonderful CD to own if you are a Beatles collector, or just a "completest" for Beatles music. Now true, the sound quality isn't the most top notch that we've become accustomed to from The Beatles, but this was just an audition for Decca, and these recordings for this CD are not directly from the original discs or tapes recorded that day at Decca studios. But it still sounds pretty darn good for being 2nd generation. The one thing that sticks out as far as the music is concerned is that Pete Best's drumming is...adequate...nothing more. To me, Pete's drumming sounds like he's just going through the motions, treating this like he's just doing his job. He has none of the power or excitement that Ringo Starr brought to The Beatles. George/Paul/John were absolutely right in dropping Pete in favor of Ringo. The Beatles would have been a great old group from the sixties regardless (how couldn't they, with George/Paul/John?) but Ringo added the last ingredient that makes The Beatles "THE BEATLES" more than 50 years since they broke up. This disc includes all 15 songs recorded that day. many collections are incomplete, offering only 10 to 12 of the songs. But this disc has all 15. So all in all, if you are a fan of The Beatles, get this CD to complete your Beatles journey. It's an enjoyable listen, taken in context. Read full review

Great discovery - there are songs on this CD I had never heard before.

Great tracks from a by-gone era. If you like the early Beatles this one is for U. Some tracks are off of the anthology series; Set 1 but most are quite rare and unheard by young ears.
