Cools excellent - fan makes a racket - installation instructions: poor
The positive: the unit looks great and cools just fine. The not so positive: the fan blades touch the case and thus make a racket. I kept bending and moving the metal case and now the fan is mostly quiet. The installation instruction are a joke. Most of the (limited) hardware included did not apply on this unit (I ended up making my own). BUT, as my wife pointed out : "you get what you pay for" and the price is great. I did get it working just fine and probably would purchase it again.

Fantastic way to stay cool and to save electricity.
Put those installation directions to one side, Very poor directions. Two of the screws that hold the unit to the cabinet was replaced with other screws. There was suppose to be 14 type A screws, There was only 12, The frame guide has to be for another unit since it doesn't fit on this unit. The directions say to pull the unit straight out from the cabinet, You have to lift and pull. On the positive side, It was so nice installing it with just the cabinet and putting the unit in the cabinet after the cabinet was in place. I installed this when the humidity was 90%, After I turned the unit on, It didn't take very long for the humidity to all in my apartment. I put it on the energy saver and let it go. Two days later the heat index was above 100 for a few days. After adjusting both direction for the air flow, It was nice and cool in my apartment those days when the heat index was in the 100's. I only had it on the first fan speed since there are three fan speed and energy saver and kept cool. Energy saver is you set the temperature, When it reaches that temperature the fan and compressor turnoff until needed again, The fan starts every so often to check the air temperature.Read full review

Very disappointed with this purchase.
This unit is a pain to install. The inside workings have to be slid out, and the shell installed, and leveled in the window. Then the chassis is slid in, and hey, this thing isn't light! I nearly killed myself trying to get this in the window. Who designed this? The unit I received has a fan that doesn't run fast enough. All the fan speeds barely move any air. High isn't much different than medium, and low. The unit is quiet, but with a poor fan speed, it takes a long time to cool the room. Not happy with this purchase. This unit should have been checked for proper operation before it was sold. I could send it back, but the box broke apart, and I've already spent too much time, money and effort with this unit. No local repair, or exchange when you buy from the internet. Spend a few extra dollars and have someone local install, and warranty it. Read full review
