I really enjoyed this book. Just out of graduate school, I realized that apart from paying bills on time, I had no clue about how to save for retirement, how to prioritize my budget, how to get my money to work for me, or how to start a budget as a newlywed. It's all here. My only frustration is with the online tools; I filled out the quiz in order to figure out what my next goal should be. It gave me a list of what should be my priority goals. I wanted to see what other goals came afterward but was unable too because the quiz wouldn't let me unless I answered that my previous goals were already met. Felt a little constraining. All in all, a great book for those who are younger and just beginning to figure out how to gain real control of their finances.
For some reason the topics of personal finance and credit were not a part of the curriculm at my alma mater. I guess investing and budgeting is something that educators assume we, twenty-somethings should already know. The fact is many of us, including myself, do not have a clue where to start. That's why I absolutley love this book. Suze explains how credit works, what is a fico score, and how to better manage personal finance. Each chapter is broken down with easy explanations and with links to go to for more information. There is a glossary and index. It is a wonderful, informative book and probably the best ten dollars I have spent!
For the young singles and married couples it is an educational tool that opens up their financial lives for discussion and planning for their future. It covers many different areas of investing and is clearly explained. Even though I am a senior citizen I bought the book and found it very informative. I have grandchildren that ask questions about investments and thought it was much easier to purchase the book for them to read instead of my telling them. It is a gift that I plan to give all of them.
I like the fact that the book is written for the common citizen, explaining everything in plain, simple terms, and takes You trough the journey of responsably handling Your finances very easily. It can be a finance handbook even to the non-broke, and I consider finance education very important in today's situation. Would recommend it very much, to be used as a guide to future planning.
this book should be required reading for all college freshman, and then again as a graduationg senior. the book isn't like most where you feel bad about all the money mistakes you've made in the past. It just helps you move to where you need to be in the future. I have never read a book like this one. Suze's voice is so encouraging. At 25 years old, and with very small incomes, yet with LOTS of college debt, my husband and I are well on our way to the millionaires club simply by starting early. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!
