Heavy-handed inspirational melodrama, but Montgomery makes it work. l
This is a TV movie made in 1985. Abbie (Elizabeth Montgomery) wakes from a 20-year coma. She is now 37, not 17, and her high school sweetheart has married her sister. The premise is blatantly manipulative, and the script is filled with the sort of eloquent yet melodramatic dialogue that rarely occurs in real life. Still, Elizabeth Montgomery pulls it off, largely because she isn't afraid to look awkward. Instead of waking from the coma looking glamorous and healthy, Abbie is physically and mentally impaired. At first she is unattractive and has poor social skills. It's not easy for her to adjust, but Montgomery will have you rooting for Abbie. Good movie, DVD as described
I loved this movie. It was new and played well. I did have to turn the volume up in order to hear it well. I think it was a made for tv movie, but still an excellent performance by Elizabeth Montgomery. Actually all the movie was well acted. Glad I purchased as I will be watching it again.
