It was new but came open without cover(the sponge pad was without protection, and old(the color of the pad edge was yellow.) If you compare the with the one with box, you can tell the two don’t have the expiration date indication part of the label ripped. The seller should tell that it is expired so that buyers don’t have to feel cheated. I couldn’t tell how old it was, but, I hesitated to use when I first opened the package for the thought of return or keep. Anyway there’s no problem using it
