The Mist is a Novella previously published in Skeleton Crew, a compilation of short stories by Stephen King. As a Stephen King collector and avid fan, I wanted to have a copy for my collection. The Mist begins and ends as a story being told by a survivor. Although David is telling the story, my favorite character is Mrs. Reppler. Reminds me of people I know and the person I hope to be one day. Something comes out of the mist and takes most of the town. The remaining few will lose someone along the way in the story. It is difficult to review this book without giving too much away. At best what I think I will say is; The Mist is a classic SK book, leaves you at the end with the terror or with a dim light of hope, your choice. And I think with him, (SK), chuckling at us from behind that typewriter. Excellent Read.......Read full review
The Mist; A horror novella in which the small town of Bridgeton, Maine enveloped in an unnatural mist that brings with it otherworldly monsters. First published in the 1980 anthology Dark Forces, edited by Kirby McCauley. A lightly re-edited version was published in the 1985 short-story collection Skeleton Crew. It was released on Audio cassette as "The Mist" in 1986. And in paperback as "The Mist" in October of 2007. In the Notes section of Skeleton Crew, King says the inspiration for The Mist came from a real life experience. A storm much like the one in the story occurred where King was living at the time. After the storm, the following day, he went to a local supermarket with his son. While they shopped for hot dog buns, King imagined a huge prehistoric bird flying around in the store. The Mist was adapted to film in 2007 Cool King Story! - willtrib EasyCityBooks NOLARead full review

This was a gift for my son I read the story in one of his collections and enjoyed it very much. It has suspense, uses your imagination and is entertaining as well. You can't go wrong with this book. If you like fiction and mystery you will like this book. Note: Do not read this when there is fog or it can really freak you out! You will never look at fog the same way again and you will remember this book when the fog comes rolling in.
This book is very disturbing and terrifying, as are all books by Stephen King, although, not as graphic as some of his other works. I am so glad Mr. King is not my next door neighbor, or I'd be sleeping with one eye open.
