This phone was purchased to replace a 6 year old LG Revere flip phone for work. This phone is slightly larger and thicker than the Revere but the buttons and function screens are almost completely the same. My real hang up with the phone has nothing to do with the ergonomics but with the operating system itself. My #1 pet peeve is the search function for contacts. One would think that searching for a contact would be the same as paging thru a phone book. You would start with the first letter in the persons last name. In the case of a business, the first letter of the business name. This OS searches for the entered letter throughout the entire listing so the more information you place in the contact form, the more likely it will pop up. This makes the process cumbersome and unnecessarily wastes time. My 2nd pet peeve is the running dialog of text messages. I can understand why some would like this but it would have been nice to be able to turn this function off. My 3rd pet peeve is the fact that there are outer buttons on the phone that can operate functions on the phone as you grab it from the holster or pocket and while the lid is closed. My final pet peeve is that when you are finished with the phone and close the lid, the phone doesn't reset to the start page but upon reopening you find yourself back where you left off. While some would find this handy, the need to backtrack back out of a previous and now unwanted function is just another waste of time. To make matters worse, if your not paying attention to what your doing, you wind up sending something to the wrong person or dialing the wrong number. Anyone reading this may think I hate this phone and I don't. My first replacement was a Sonim XP5S, a phone I really liked for it's size and heft but with a more complicated and disruptive OS. it is a sturdy phone.. it is not very user friendly.. a compromise between the size and durability of a rugged flip phone and a smart phone .. but as I stated, not very user friendly.. Kyocera support questions are responded to by Verizon. It seams they really do not either read or understand the questions. After several e-mails, I gave up. My old Motorola barrage was a much more user friendly phone. One design issue is that the power cord inserts on the side of the phone where is is mostly in the way if you want to use the phone while charging. This particular phone was advertised by all4cellular as Mint ... It was BETTER than Mint !!!!

Flip phones are clunky, and that's the point: You are buying this *because* it will limit you, your child, or your employee from distractions and compulsive internet use. There were two features of this phone that I was previously misled into believing it could do: - VZ Navigator. Not present and I can find no method of downloading it. - USB data access. I thought I could simply attach my phone to my computer and upload music and video to it like a regular phone. The option to do so in "tools" is ghosted out and I cannot find a way to re-enable it. This means I need to physically remove the SD card to add media content, and I just won't bother. Email was a requirement for me and it gets a passing grade. I would not recommend getting this phone if you have to do a lot of correspondence with it, though, as typing T9 responses take about four times as long as with a smartphone. If your laptop is within reach it is far easier to just open it. The web browser is serviceable and capable of handling most websites but is predictably limited in configuration options. If you don't like Google, Bing, or Yahoo for search, you're out of luck. Downloading media files or pictures doesn't seem to be an option. Password entry is a bear, especially if you use a mix of upper and lowercase letters. The camera is bad, but I will assume you don't care and leave it at that. The Camelback case is awful and obscures 1/3 of the camera's lens when open but that's no fault of the phone's. The alarm doesn't work like you're used to. In order for the alarm to work, you need to have the ringer on. Don't be surprised like I was. I can't comment on Fieldforce or Push To Talk because I don't use those features.Read full review

For what was billed as a "simple phone", it sure is complicated & not easy to understand & use basic features! We had to call to order a owners manual & received a 8 1/2 x 11 x 3/8" "User Guide" which is not easy to follow & understand! The "Meet Your Phone" guide that came with the phone was useless As it didn't answer simple useage questions. Printing the 147 page User Guide from the website was not practical. Also, this phone in quite heavy & larger than my previous flip phone. Am NOT totally pleased!!!

This phone is great. Since the wireless networks are forcing us to use 4g we searched high and low wasting money on crappy phones promoted by networks. Did my research and this works so much like Samsung convoy 3 and we love it. We talk and a small amount of texting. It meets 4g so we are good to go. No need to have a smartphone DONT want one or need it. This makes calls easily and the ptt feature works great too. Keeps us connected.
