For the money, you’re not going to beat these speakers. I use them as front and rear surrounds. They would be great for an inexpensive dorm setup or secondary stereo system. They appear and function as brand new.

setting up home cinema / gaming on a budget ? 1- buy 4 of these pioneers BS22-LR they are poor man's gold for front and back Want to juice them will silly amounts of power ? buy something else. The provide clean sound with nice nuance , flexible and relatuvely dynamic. 2- buy a center made by klipsch or Paradigm on SALE / liquidation . 3- buy a 10'' front firing sub on SALE or a good FF 8''on SALE if you are limited on space . fyi sub that do not weigh much don't kick much , magnets and thick particle board is heavy . People spending 2, 3 even 4X more will be jealous. Use decent wire thickness , does not have to be stupid priced stuff . Take the time to move things around , use your favorite song till its ''perfect''. Done & enjoy

I was very surprised how good these little speakers are for the price. Good imaging and pleasing tonal balance. They have a surprising amount of bass from such a small 4" driver. However, it is rear ported so they need to be a minimum of 18" away from the front wall to avoid boomy, muddy bass. I'm using it with a simple integrated amp with a tube front end and Class D output stage. Very easy to listen to due to the reserved top end. I've not heard anything better at $100.

great buy for the money...bought it "open boxed" on pioneer home. It came with a closed box like new. No damage on the cabinets or anywhere. Sound quality superb after a little dsp tuning. Low end is lacking but knew that going in. For acoustics and instrumentals it fills in the low end just fine but it lacks that low for edm/hip hop/trance. Will add a cheap sub. These speakers were paired with an el cheapo lepai168ha rated @ 40watts. Speakers take 80 or 90watts I believe. Turning it all the way up is low enough to fill the 800 sq feet of my nyc apartment.

The Pioneer SP-BS22-LR offers tremendous value for your audio dollar. The speaker is well engineered and nicely constructed. If this speaker cost two to three times what it does I'd still consider it to be a good value. However, at $120 the pair the SP-BS22-LR represents one of the best values in affordable book shelf speakers presently found on the audio market. This is a flexible sounding little speaker that sounds as good playing rock and roll as it does classical or jazz. Perhaps most noteworthy is that in spite of its affordable price, the SP-BS22-LR does what all great audio products do; it maintains a neutrality that allows it to faithfully honor the music. Highly recommended! And kudos to designer Andrew Jones for giving us such a wonderful product at such an affordable price!Read full review
