We bought the Ring 2 and weren’t unhappy with it but with our situation we needed better motion detection. The Elite is that and more! Better picture quality, better motion zone adjustment, no lag, better piece of mind being hard wired to Ethernet. And it looks much better. 10 out of 10 satisfaction.

This is definitely a better product than the wireless versions of the Ring doorbell with much less latency. Thankfully I found a reasonably-priced unit on eBay that took some of the sting out of the ridiculously high MSRP. Installation was buggy and frustrating; it took several days with hours of research to figure out why the device would not connect to my network. Ring's support documents are inadequate despite evidence of them having been informed of my particular problem...obviously there are going to be a number of customers who want to plug this device into larger PoE switches. I finally found some online reviews where the reviewers described the incompatibility with some higher-end or commercial grade switches which by default enable STP (Spanning-Tree Protocol) to prevent redundant network paths and the Ring setup process will fail without explanation due to STP port blocking. In order to connect Ring in this situation, it is necessary to disable STP or enable PortFast (if available), at least on the port to which it is connected. A comment about incompatibility with STP is definitely worth adding to Ring's troubleshooting document for resolving setup failures.Read full review
