I took a graduate course on discipline by these authors, and it changed my whole approach to classroom discipline! We used their methods as we parented problem-behavior foster teens, with great results! I bought this book for a friend who needed advice, and she says that there are wonderful solutions given for many situations in this book. The book was in great condition and at a super price!!

I didn't really feel like this book fit my parenting style. About 20 pages into it, I put it down and haven't finished it. It's not bad, I just don't agree with the way the authors think kids should be raised. I am all for love and logic...but this book leaves out cultural and socioeconomic differences...the book is heavily slanted towards white, middle class, conservative Christian values...which is fine if that is you, however my family is pretty liberal. I want my kids to grow up with honesty, a good work ethic and a strong moral compass...whether they turn out Buddhist or Christians, straight or gay does not matter to me.

This book is a very practical guide that any parent can use from the start in order to change parenting strategies and improve relationships. We are impressed by the advice that captures what we as parents should be doing. It also shows how we can give proper responsibility to our children in a VERY loving way. It frees the parent from worry and frustration and places the burden of responsibility on the proper party without guilt, anger, or frustration. EVERYTHING is done in love. You can't get much better than that! Happy Reading, Susie
