I first got one of these well over ten years ago. It is extremely easy to use and it takes great photographs; the flash is one of the best for brightness and distance. However, this one will not allow me to download the photographs using the USB port!! I thought maybe it was the cord I already but - no such luck. I ordered a new USB cord and still it just won't allow my computer to recognize that the camera is connected!! Now I have to find an older computer that can read directly from the Memory Stick. Bummer!!!

I bought a replacement camera for the one that was stolen. The camera is easy to use and produces great photos. Either the eye piece or the back viewfinder may be used for composing your photos. Both wide angle and telephoto shots may be made with ease. The optics on the camera are high quality and the lens can be tilted up or down for taking photos at odd angles without the photographer having to bend and twist to focus on his subject. This camera can be used for short videos although with the microphone built into the top of the camera, the photographer must be careful with breathing or the camera picks up the noise. The greatest problem with buying this camera is it comes with only 1 16mb memory stick. This will hold only about 11 pictures at the finest resolution. Buying extra memory sticks are difficult since the type of memory sticks used by this camera is no longer manufactured by Sony. If you are lucky enough to find off brand memory sticks online they will only be 256mb. This is usually enough to hold 90-100 pictures. Currently on the market are new point and shoot cameras with newer memory devices that hold more pictures and are as equally easy to use with the same or more megapixals. Extra batteries for this camera are readily available. The camera comes with a usb cable and easily transfers photo to other storage devices or computers.Read full review
Alright, you got me, I really can't come up with 707 reasons. I can however try to describe why I purchased this camera over the competition. When I purchased this camera I had alot to choose from. Not only were there comparable digital camera's to choose from, but there were some good SLR's to choose from too. When I was standing in our hometown Best Buy staring at the choices, I have to say I was already bias. I have made it a habit to purchase on name brand alone, and Sony had been the most reliable. With that being said, I was open to other options. There were four things that I was looking for. 1) Megapixels I had a cell phone camera that took photo's at 1.0 megapixels and they were terrible. The picture was grainy and unclear. With the 5.0 megapixels, the difference was crystal clear. The pictures are sharp, and colorful with an almost life-like view of your shot on the LCD screen. 2) Optical Zoom Alot of camera's promote digital zoom as an important quality in a camera when infact, the higher the optical zoom, the clearer the picture will be when you zoom in on your target. 3) Memory Stick capability Quite simply the better alternative to Cd's, tapes, or film. The advancement in printer capabilities and now the option to put it directly into your TV was exciting for me. 4) Large LCD Screen This camera has a large, easy to see screen at any angle that you take your photo. With the ability to swivel the lens up and down to adjust to any shot while still viewing the screen is a luxury in digital camera's. It has the viewfinder to look through but I never use it. Those are the important things that I needed in a camera. I did not care about the size, weight, or shape. The camera is a little heavy, and bulky would probably be a good descriptive word for it, but the pro's far outway the con's. Another great feature is the ability to screw on filters for any shot. I am glad that I chose this camera and would recommend this camera to anyone from the serious photographer to the novice who expects perfection.Read full review
The Sony DSC-F707 5.0 Megapixel camera was the first digital camera I had. This camera was given to my wife. Somehow the camera got broken. She wanted another one. The images were sharper than on her Canon 8 megapixel camera. She loved the tilt up screen. The Carl Zeiss lens takes amazingly sharp images. It can, under the right conditions make an 11x14 print. It got me interested in photography again. Its even a bargain now with all those 12 megapixels cameras (with maybe not so sharp lenses). Its got the quality. The only major gripe I have with this camera is the shutter lag. Otherwise it is great. The smaller digital sensor on the camera allows for greater depth of field. At f8, I was able to have three wine glasses in the foreground sharp and the palm trees in the distance were sharp as well. I have got a lot of complements on this photo. Just because it is an older camera model, does not make it a bad camera. More megapixels, great lenses, features......yes, they are all out there. This camera is not a bad choice for an older camera. Great 8x10 portraits. Of course, if you can, go out and buy a newer model with all the bells and whistles. DaveRead full review
