With good reason I was hesitant to buy this game seeing as its predecessor was lackluster. Without seeing any reviews on this and hoping for the best I gave in to my son's nagging and picked this up for him. If you're a Bionicle fan, I'm afraid that you're not left with any alternatives to this. The premise of the game is that you shoot stuff to gain access to other places where you can shoot more stuff. After about 15-20 minutes of playing the game it lost my attention and I was tempted to drive back to the store and return it. When you first insert the game you'll find it takes a lot of time to load. It can take up to a minute or two to load a new area and it's very frustrating. Targeting is somewhat automatic and you get the feeling that it's mostly a button masher after a while. Obtaining "Hero Mode" is supposed to be the fun part because your character is glowing and your supposedly stronger and should be killing stuff faster but I didn't find it particularly exciting. Please put less focus on the flash and focus on plot and gameplay. Make it more fun to shoot the little critters in the game. Allow the game to become a little more fast paced with intriguing bosses or challenges. It seems like this game is so like 10 years ago in regard to gameplay with graphics from 2 years ago.Read full review
We bought this game because our 6 year old is 'like the biggest Bionicle fan EVER'. He played for a half hour and that was it. He says that it is just too scary. I say that the graphics make me motion sick and it is hard to differentiate focal features from background fluff. You can't even remotely see what you're supposed to be shooting at (or what is shooting at you), and the game gets way too complicated way too fast. Within a few seconds of entering the first location, we were cycling through too many weapons to choose. And I wasn't sure who was the good guy and who was the bad guy (if I'm not mistaken, we were playing the role of the bad guy?). I think that we could have muddled through if this had been a two player game so that a stronger player could have worked with the weaker player (uh, wait, my 6 year old is the stronger player... maybe I should say 'the weaker player could provide moral support to the stronger player'), but without taking over and playing for him, it was just not doable. The concept has potential, but the execution was flawed. Too much input.Read full review
This is a great game. We rented it and loved it so much we bought it. It is much easier than the first bionicle game and you can play as several characters at once to help you live longer. Also, you don't constantly run out of ammo like you do in the first bionicle game. My five and six year old boys love it and it's fun for me to play with them. It would be a great game for older kids to teens to adults also. As a mom, I am very strict in regards to game violence, but with this game the kids get to play a "shooting" game without the blood and gore. Highly recommended!!
I really like the fact that Super Heros are making a comeback! My grandson thinks that this is one of the best games he has played in a long time! He likes the challenges this game gives him! He has taken a great interest in this one!
We love this game. My son wanted me to buy it because he collects the toys. The graphics are great and the controls are easy making it a great game for kids.
