Back when the Genesis was dying out around 1995, I was more into the SNES games and loved all the games that came out. As a young teen, anything video game related always interested me, especially with the Genesis. I never owned a Genesis system until lately (seriously, just got my very first Sega Genesis Model 2 in February 2013 in a thrift store in working condition). My brother borrowed his friend's Genesis and we borrowed Arcus Odyssey at a local video game rental store. It came with the manual when I rented it and I loved the character art in the book! The cover on the box art was very...boring and bland as I'm not really a fan of old American animation art (The Final Fantasy Legend series character art is horrendous!). So I popped this game in and loved it the second I played it. You have four characters: a swordsman, whip-it-good lady, elf archer, and an old mage guy. My favorite was the elf archer cause her arrows ricochet off the wall. You're on a quest to defeat this evil sorceress and save the world. You have to go through a bunch of maps to progress and "level up" your character to be strong enough to beat her. My opinion: I love this retro game. The game is fun, action packed, and EXTREMELY challenging. The battles are hard as heck and you only get to have ONE life. I died in the first level many times, but that's because I wasn't expecting this game to be that hard. My only gripe was that there is no battery save, so you have to go with the old fashion password save. It's long, but it's satisfying to know that you can go to the next stage without losing your data cause it got erased.Read full review
