Donkey Kong 3 is not like it predecessors. Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. featured Mario (some of you might know him as Jumpman). Donkey Kong 3 features Stanley, who is trying to protect his greenhouse from the bugs that are angered by Donkey Kong. The game is a simple shooter game. The object of the game is to spray Donkey Kong and force him to move up the vines that he is hanging from before the bugs take your flowers away or kill you. Some of you may find the game repetitive and extremely boring. It is agreed that this game is a far departure from the first two. There will be some players that will not have a tolerance for it for more than five minutes. For collectors, it brings back "arcade" memories and it is a nice piece to have. I recommend this game if you are a collector and simply want to have it along side with your Donkey Kong Classic NES games.Read full review
Excellent game, title's a bit of an oxymoron being 'The Original... 3'. Played it for the first time in about 20 years and it still makes me laugh. For a game of its time, well lets face it, after DK 1 there really wasn't too many changes, added numbers in DK Jr Math, a kid in another one, but the same basic concept, but it's a great concept and it still makes me laugh decades later. Overall; recommended, absolutely.
This game has fun and challenging gameplay and is a forgotten gem in my opinion.

We decided to buy this product because my husband found his old nintendo game system in the basement. We didn't realize this donkey kong wasn't the original one the company made. Our fault, of course, for not seeing the "3" on the discription! Anyway, we've played it a couple of times and are still learning how to play this version.
