Gemfire is a classic turn-based strategy on Genesis, Snes, and other systems. Gemfire has a good story centered on a long-lasting battle between a great fire dragon and six wizards of Ishmeria (an island with over half a dozen fiefs similar to feudal Japan). During the time the game takes place the main players are the Blanch and Lyle families, each with respective wizards, and four other smaller families with wizards to each. The game allows you to choose different scenarios and to further choose which side you want to control. This game is similar to Dragon Force on Saturn or the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Series, but less complicated than the latter. The game is quite entertaining to play and has a fairly advanced battle system for the systems and time it was released. The main drawback of this game is that it is quite easy to amass great power through basic economics, buy low/sell high, which means you will be able to easily dominate every scenario if you have any sense at all. Overall, though, it is a great game and a must for old-timey game fans.Read full review

this is a classic koei game lots of menus , not an rpg its a turn based strategy game . overall its a good game if you take the time to play it out. if you like classic koei games like nobunaga's ambition and romance of the three kingdoms you'll like this game, if you're not into either of those you probably wont like it
