The roots of the "Cruis`n -series" have always been on arcade cabinet, and that sentence alone will most likely hint what type of games to expect. It`s hard to say why titles on these series are so called "love it or hate it", but when you take a look at the review scores againts how well these generally sell, you`ll have to admit that this is the fact. Three (3) of those arcade titles were relesed as well on N64, one sequel only on Gameboy and newer one on Wii. Let´s take a look what`s on N64... First was Cruis`n USA (1996) followed by Cruis`n World (1998) and finally lesser known Cruis`n Exotica (2000) that was not even released in Europe. I mentioned those titles at once, just because they all have one thing in common... -They are all badly underrated by critics. Why? Well, they are about as far from the mighty Gran Turismo as you could probably get. But is it really sutch a bad thing? After all you`ll get fun light hearter racer(s) with locations from all over the world combined by loads of cars to chose, fast gameplay and some really nice music while driving some spectacular courses beyond your wildest imagination! Not to even mention beautiful chicks! At the end of the day, Cruis`n games are loved by gamers but hated by magazines. Cruis`n Exotica is not unfortunately quite as good game as Cruis`n world was, despite still being pretty cool. It lacks some of the atmostphere and style found from earlier games, while trying to achieve some by having nearly all same music tracks from the earlier title. This time, you`ll get more futuristic, almost "Sonic Adventure -style" approach on tracks with even some dinosaurs and whales, not forgetting aliens and other stuff like fireworks. Most of this "stuff" actually works great on dedicated courses, but can look and feel kinda misplaced on others. While game does not achieve that warm heart found in prequels, it is still above mediocre racers that home consoles and arcade are full. You´ll get fast colourful racer with beutiful lends flares, wild courses and mindless fun! There is still a bit draw -in found in places, but not much and it does not affect playing experience. If you can live with Wipeout 64, then you`ll certainly live with Cruis`n Exotica as i would not even talk about pop -up when talking about this game as opposed to Wipeout 64 that is also exelent game. So, if your`re interested fast, smooth, little arcade racer with some stunts then you should try this racer even if it`s not the best thing ever or push N64 to it`s limits... Cruisin' Exotica gives the player a fantasy of racing cars the same way kids play with toy cars. everything is far from real, nothing is without a sense of humor, and it's just plain fun. From the Profile Pictures of goofy characters to the the insane race tracks, this game does not welcome a serious attitude. Race underwater, or when dinosaurs roamed the earth, even on Mars. Nothing in this game is "the best ever" if that's all your looking for, keep walking. Everyone else that wants a racer that high energery and brings arcade gameplay, enjoy

Best Cruis'n game there is. Dinosaurs, cool cars, flips, and more. I love the Midway games on the N64 and this one is a great arcade racing experience. If you are a fan of the RUSH series or Cruis'n USA - Cruis'n World then you will enjoy this game a lot.
