Set in the title's expansive Alaskan territory, Cabela's Survival: Shadows of Katmai leaves players alone and stranded. Forced to scavenge for equipment and hunt for food, they must remain ever prepared to run for their lives from lurking, monstrous predators that call the harsh mountains home. As Cabela's hunting simulations are to the first-person shooter genre, Shadows of Katmai is to the survival horror style. Gamers face a tense and complicated journey, punctuated with explosive violence and startling dangers, that plays out through the Cabela's series' extreme but believable wilderness settings.<br><br>Arctic storms make shelter difficult but crucial to find, and rocky, ice-covered terrain is treacherous. Hungry wolves, bear, and mountain cats are better suited for the unforgiving environments than is their bipedal prey. Facing man-against-nature challenges befitting cable television outdoorsmen, players must rely on instinct, adaptability, and luck to survive. As the adventure progresses, the player's character can acquire better equipment, in order to face even greater challenges ahead. Away from the adventure, multiplayer shooting-gallery competition is available in head-to-head, hot-seat, and co-op modes.

An okay experience!
Excellent game, great graphics- however, I beat the game in story mode in about 3 hours. They would do well to remake the game in the future with tons more features, and an increased difficulty for the story mode. Plus, the abilities that you have to dig for things, and the lack of being able to really hunt for your survival are rather stupid (for instance, you just hunt moose, and you don't even have to carry them back or fend off wolves while going to get the meat). The fact that you are following in an old miner's footsteps, and then not finding any gold at all...doesn't make much sense- maybe I just like more adventure- but it could have been an unbelievable game, and instead was just so-so...Excellent game, great graphics- however, I beat the game in story mode in about 3 hours. Not the BEST game I've played!
This video game is pretty good but, you kill the wolfs over and over again. Once in a while you kill a Bear, Moose, or a Mt. lion. You have to climb the rock walls and it gets annoying sometimes. The graphics aren't that good but, the wii doesn't have good graphis anyway. If yor planning to get the elite crap, buy the game first and then buy the elite gun.
