I got my rigid fan to take to dog training and dog shows and to use in the jeep for the dogs. I tried it out when it came. I was on the back porch outside on a 95 degree day with plenty of humidity. Waiting for the dogs to potty. Low is a bit lower ,slower than I expected. But the mid range was just about what I wanted for my berner. In fact while I was testing the fan he came up on the porch and flopped down in front of it facing it. I like the fact that I can use an orange extention cord if I have access to electricity. We also live on a 55 acre ranch and loose power sometimes during storms. I have an old 8 D cell camping fan we have used in the past when the power is out in the summer. This Rigid fan moves probably 6 times the amount of air.. I do suggest to get either the 4ah or 5ah hyper batteries for it. That is the type of battery you need to safely run the fan for longer times without damaging the battery. The book that comes with the rigid fan doesn't say what size battery you can only run a few hours and shouldn't run completely down. The new rigid fan adds say that with the larger hyper batteries you can get 30 hours on low.Read full review

There are basically 2 'hybrid' fans available to the consumer. One has 2 speeds and the other, the Rigid, is variable speed. At first glance, the Rigid is superior just by version of it's variable speed and how quiet it is. Unfortunately it uses a voltage regulator type which is inefficient and overheats when used with 110 volt AC. It then shuts down until cool enough to restart. The fan was purchased for use after our islands were hit by two Hurricanes. The idea being, while on generator power, the fan could be used while the batteries were charging. Unfortunately, the fan overheats and shuts down after an hour on AC. This fan is a good battery operated fan, but it is not a "Hybrid". I will continue to use it as a battery fan, but I now using the other brand, which has just a low and high selection, but works fine on AC.Read full review

Nice fan. Easy to carry and it puts out a good amount of air. I like that it has a variable speed too. The standard batteries only last about 2.5 - 3hrs. I have ordered some higher capacity batteries that should last around 6-8 hrs. You can also plug in a power cord to run off electricity. I like that too. I really haven't used it to much but seems to be built well.

Let me start out by saying I am a very big fan of most all the Ridgid products. The first thing I noticed was the flexible handle. I see this as a plus since it is exposed and could be broken on impact. It seems to be pretty rugged without sacrificing style and function. Which in my mind is one of the features Ridgid is noted for. It has many options for placing when working, which is definitely a plus. But the lid to the 110v plug in is pretty flimsy and should have been constructed to stay shut when hanging upside down using battery power or just stored hanging upside down allowing dust and other particles to gather on the contacts. There should have been a means to store a simple 6' to 9' cord on this unit. Since if you are in a situation where you need your battery and have a receptacle near by, it would be nice to reach down for a small cord that was stored on the unit itself. Note that Ridgid doesn't need to supply the power cord, just provide a place to store it and have one less item to carry. The only major problem I see, is that this fan is a little under powered. I have a fan that looks very similar to the Ridgid fan in size and base, but produces more airflow. I think a slightly more powerful motor or a redesign of the fan blades should be looked into. Not bad for the first attempt at this product. Though this product isn't for everyone, I put this in my stable of Ridgid products. Even though I checked "NO" on "well designed" , it's not all that bad, but could be great with a little tweaking.Read full review

I use it at work, it works good for what I'm using it for, its really quiet for the amount of air it moves. I plug it in, but a friend has one and he says it'll last 8 hours on a 3 Ah battery
