LG V40 ThinQ is a nice brand new phone. It is thin and light. I got it because it had 6GB RAM and 0.10" bigger screen than the Samsung S8 Plus (which I also purchased). However, after comparing the two, I decided to use the S8 Plus as my primary phone because even though it is twice as heavy and only has 4GB RAM, it is still faster at processing apps and the screen/picture is larger and more colorful than the LG. I am using the LG as our home/wifi phone (kind of like iPod of yester years) device because of large screen and so wife doesn't wear out her iPhone 6s Plus battery.

Phone itself is pretty decent. Large screen face, works reasonably well. The drawback is definitely the battery life. It drains even while not in use and falls short from any other Android I've had or have. By comparison, my LG G6 can be used all day long (talk, text, e-mails, social media) and upon the end of the day (10hrs) battery life is in high 60's, low 70's percentage. The V40, with the same avg of use in the same time frame could hit low 30's/high 20's of battery percentage. Charges avg even w/ quick charge so I invested in a charge pack in the case I may have a longer than usual day.

I used to be a "Samsung" only person. This is my 2nd LG and will not go another brand. Awesome camera, love the fingerprint sensor. The battery doesn't last as long as my last LG but I knew this before going in. Still charge once a day with a lot of usage. I recommend this phone to anyone that wants a excellent phone without the "name brand" excessive price.

Best phone out there in my opinion love the camera quality and wide angle feature. Very light phone and easy to use.. Hands down great investment.

This phone is a beast hardware-wise. But LG needs to work more with carriers for software updates. It's 1 year since Android 9 and this thing still on 8.1. Security updates have been frequent though. LG phones are always best choice 6 months after their release. This thing not comparable to Galaxy S9 or Note 9, but after 6 months and several price drops, V40 is a better buy than S9. I got this and disabled a bunch of unnecessary preloaded software after 1 week of use. I was getting 12% overnight battery drain. Now with those Apps disabled and the Always on display set to turn off between 9PM and 6AM, I am getting just 2% drain overnight. With my moderate use, the battery lasts a day and a half and can even stretch to 2 days with low use. The camera is really great too, but in auto mode they are just a hair below the level set by Pixel, Huawei, Apple and Samsung. The true value of its camera comes from its manual mode and there is no competition to LG in this space. Cases are bit hard to find for this. I got a Spigen, but prefer the MNML brand and MNML has none for LGV40 yet. Spigen cases dampen the boombox effect. Overall, super happy with the purchase and the value this phone brings at this price, but disappointed on not getting Android 9 yet.Read full review
