As a lover of Indian history, the title of this book caught my eye. After I began reading it, I couldn't put it down. The author writes a detailed account of her capture and five month captivity by various Sioux tribes. Her descriptions of life among the Indians take us on that journey with her; we can feel her fear as she wonders if she will ever see her family again. She also gives us a glimpse of how the Indians and Generals really felt about this time in our Country's history and why both "sides" acted the way they did. This account is an interesting narrative, and I highly recommend it.
