The pros of this optic are well covered in reviews all over the internet. It's well built, the price point is great, it's sturdy and strong. Overall, I'm happy with it. For the sake of posterity, I will point out some of it's issue so that you can make an totally informed purchase. First off, the mount flips left. This obstructs the view of a both eyes open right eyed shooter. It can be reversed to flip right but this does put the release knob up front which means you have to take your hand off the grip to activate it. The mount is not interchangeable with other mounting solutions. If this is a problem for you, you may want to buy the Burris 3X magnifier and add a LaRue mount. The magnifier lines up very closely with or without the shim when paired with my Aimpoint PRO. I ended up running the shim which puts the mount about 1-2mm higher than the Aimpoint PRO. It's not an issue as the elevation adjustment on the magnifier made it easy to center my red dot. I just wanted to point that out because I have read reviews that say it lines up perfectly. The eye relief is lower than the more expensive magnifiers but I didn't have any problem finding my dot easily when resting my cheek on the fully extended Magpul ACS stock cheek rest. I'm 6'1" tall and like a stretched out shooting stance. So, don't be concerned with people's gripes on eye relief. The field of view is comparable to other magnified optics. This optic improved my groups at 100 yards greatly and help me hit decent groups at 200 yards. I couldn't do that before with just the 1X Aimpoint PRO. It serves it's purpose, and again, I'm very happy with it.Read full review

I love vortex products. I’ve owned several red dots and scopes. This magnifier leaves more to be desired. It’s great quality and construction but the eye relief is absolutely horrible and field of view is narrow. I would pass on this and order a 1-6x strike Eagle or just run your red dot without magnification.

Excellent quality item. Goes great with my Vortex Strikefire red dot. No need to re-zero unless you have moved the red dot. I had to move my red dot but was able to re-zero quickly. This magnifier is a wonderful addition to my S&W AR-15 and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to increase the range of view of their red dot, no matter the brand of red dot or rifle you have to put them on.

Decent clarity, but its bulky with the mount. The eye relief is very tight on these, you really need to be under two inches to get full field of view. If you have an application where you can mount it behind the rear iron sites it may work if you use a short length of pull on the stock. If your 6' plus tall like me it will be hard to get the eye relief dialed in, even with an adjustable stock just about collapsed it was fairly bad fit wise. These are made tall for an AR-15 flat top like platform, the minimum height mount is 47 mm tall. I like my red dot mounted much lower. The only thing that fits me better is the 3x of the Primary Arms brand, it has separate mounts, one is lower and it has a little more eye relief. But, I can't use the stock where I like it, still gotta scrunch up on these magnifiers. I think the Vortex variable works better than this combo or just run the red dot as is. I tried using this magnifier with the Vortex Sparc II.Read full review

Great scope and highly recommend. However, and I never knew this before, these types of scopes make the red dot difficult to use "if" you have a astigmatism of the eye. I never new this until after trying to use the scope and doing some research. The astigmatism makes the magnified red dot look like a comet leaving a trail.
