Have long used Nikon-mostly monarchs until a few years ago when price shot up. Needed a BDC so thought I would try this one. Still have monarchs and VXII's but almost exclusively use these now. Compared a Monarch, VXII, and this Prostaff 5 at dark one day. All seemed about the same as far as being able to clearly make out an object I had picked out. Prostaff 5 might, and I say might, have been a little better than the other two. Mind you, the monarch was the old UCC of a few years ago. All were 40mm. Try one. You might like it as much as I do.

Optic clarity is pristine, light gathering ability at dusk and dawn is astounding, BDC charts on line with Nikon give all bullet drop and range expectations for 100's of rounds and makers. This is an outstanding scope priced far below competitors similar offerings, and exceeds others in design and functions.

Failed after 20 rounds through my 35 Whelen! I own several Monarchs, five pros staff 3.5x14’s, x bow scope, and ATB binoculars. All have worked flawlessly. I bought this 2.5x10 pro staff 5 to save a $100 VS a Monarch. I loaded tested my rifle and went to sight in the best load. I was 4” left when I rested my last group. They all shot in the same hole. The next shot tracked 3” to the right at 100 yards. I clicked my dials 8 to the left and o shot a foot and a half left! Next shot never hit the target. I went back to 50 yards and my first shot with not doing any readjustments hit 7” to the right! I clicked 8 to the left and I hit in the exact same hole that was 7” to the right. I moved it 8 more clicks and fired. I never hit the 3’ square target! I just got done sighting in 3 other deer rifles off my lead sled that all shot sub MOA and were zeroed at 100 yards so it wasn’t me. I sent it into Nikon who confirmed it failed. Nikon offered a credit voucher for less than my enclosed receipt to be used on anything they currently sell....not riflescopes, since they do not repair or replace them anymore. So if anyone owns a Nikon and it fails you will get a credit voucher. I called and raised heck. Nikon is sending me cash refund for what they offered me so I can invest it into a company that will warranty their optics. Read full review
