This OKC kukri is the second one I have ordered. I got the first from another site at a slightly better price. Both knives had issues. The first had a 3/32 inch bow in the middle of the blade. It went back. This one had an s sheped warp in the tip and it was also slightly twisted in that same area. This was slight and I kept this one. OKC usually has better quality control. The seller did not open the box and check the blade, so he is blameless. I expressed my concerns directly to OKC abput their quality control, but the reply was noncommittal. The steel is excellent and the handle is well designed and very good quality. It sharpened up nicely and will be very usable. Overall it is worth the price paid, but could have been better in build quality.

This is a field ready Kukri made of all the good stuff. 1095 steel, Kraton handle, 12" long and 1/4" thick blade and the sheath is decent. I would have preferred a Kydex sheath but of course that costs more. As with the Marine Raider Bowie I bought from them, it needed sharpening. Once sharpened it is a very effective field knife fit for all sorts of tasks. Hand honing the Kukri was an interesting project. I used Smith's natural bench stones, med.,fine, extra fine on the surface from 5" up from the handle to the point. Then the area from the handle 5" forward of the handle or close to it, I used a Lansky crock stick sharpener since the angle is quite a bit more and requires a round sharpening stone rather than a flat stone to contact the edge where it needed sharpening. The Lansky 9" med. & fine crock stick at 25 degrees did fine. For those who live in snake infested country this knife would be a lot of comfort, since it wouldn't take very much effort lopping off their little heads! The knife is an outstanding value!Read full review

this knife is so much lighter than a regular kukri which has its pros and cons. its easy to sharpen and holds a great edge. on the down side it doesn't chop like the regular kukri because of the lack of weight, but is still a very good chopper on 1" or less saplings.

It's a good beater camp knife. Personally, I really don't prefer kukris, but I just wanted to add to my collection. It has a decisive forward balance, which means it behaves like a hatchet in your hands; that's what it was designed for. It's both a camp/farm tool and a fighting knife as we all know, but it just doesn't fit with my style. I prefer lighter blades, but that doesn't mean this kukri won't work. After all, it is a legendary blade. I'll just need to train in the Gurkha style. The Ontario Kukri itself is well-built. The handle seems blocky yet it provides a good organic, rubbery grip for all the chopping that you'll be doing with it. I'd probably add some grip tape to the handle, but that's just for me; I need a slightly thicker grip to swing it better without stressing my wrist. It's sharp out of the box, mine had slight burrs towards the tip, but it's not an issue at all, easy to sharpen. The sheath is okay, seems sturdy enough to last, it's nylon so the draw is quiet except when you flip the snap button; then again I'm not a ninja so I really won't need all that stealth. Overall an excellent blade!Read full review
