This is the smoothest welder I have ever ran. 5/32 7018 at 165 amps on a 30 amp 220 volt breaker. I'm impressed.

  • Much better than I expected

This little welder really surprised me. It appears to be well made with heavy duty cables, electrode holder and ground clamp. I only tried it with 3/32 and 5/64 6013 rods, but it welded perfectly. The welds are easy to start and the weld bead is nice and uniform. I got best results with electrode negative. If you play with the Arc Force knob you can get different penetration and adjust the under cut which is handy when you are welding small pieces or thin material. I also have a big Hobart StickMate welder and I think this little welder is much easier to use. Where you really notice the difference is starting the arc. With the big welder, you have to scratch the material with the electrode and then move to your starting point. With this welder, you just touch the rod where you ...

  • Don't buy refurbished

This was a refurbished model at best I can get about 130 to 140 amps out of and that's using 220 volts so with that in mind that would be around 65 to 75 amps on 110 volts. The hot start I have to crank it about 1/2 way to start to work. For now on I will only new.

  • Great welder

This is a great welder at a budget price. Very lightweight and portable, and runs off 110 or 220.
