I REALLY wanted to like this pedal. That said... Stop!! Save a few extra bucks and get the ISP Decimator G-String. Or even the Boss NS-2. I knew this pedal didn't offer complete silence. I was fine with that. O just wanted to tame what I consider excessive noise from my Marshall. But I couldn't find a sweet spot that would allow me to roll my guitar volume knob down a bit to clean up my sound...and still remain effective. And, the gate takes too long to shut when you dip below the threshold. It's a clean pedal and does what it's supposed to do. I just need it to do it better. MXR is sitting on a potential winner here...but it needs revising before I'll give it another shot.
This pedal has a permanent place on my board. It keeps all the noise from ALL of my dirty pedals down no matter how many are on at one time--and it does it without compromising the tone of the guitar. Since it takes both a dry signal and works as a looper it really gets the true sound of your instrument through to the amp while squashing the backround noise of your effects chain signal. The only drawback is that if you want to hold a really long sustained note with some feedback then you will have to turn it off for that moment. I would consider puting in a momentary switch to turning it off for those notes. Great effect pedal even thouugh it doesn't change any sound at all.
