With this mount you can place a mic just about anywhere you need to on a drum, although with this flexibility comes a bit of confusion. I think some people will have less trouble than others. I have difficulty finding the best configuration, but with time I always get it exactly where I want it. After a few times it's easy. it's the only mounting system I've used, so I can't compare it to other designs. It's strong and stable.

It works for live music. For recording there is way to much rattle. My set up is probably half the blame, but I don't want to change it just to get rid of my mic stands. If your drums are really secure they might work for you.

Super solid and actually a bit heavy. I got them to mount Shure Beta 56As on my drums. All the other drum mounting mic holders I'd tried wouldn't get those mics low enough to the drums to get the sound I was after, but these are very adjustable and I can place the mics as low or high - or near or far away - as I need. They're also made of metal and have a nice variety of options for clamping them on the drum rims or, in the case of my toms, to the suspension mounts that hold the toms. Be aware that the mounting rod is not round, however, so the choice of near/far from the drums is more of an A/B choice and not a continuous swivel.

I'm not sure how old this design is ... but it is unsurpassable in form and function. It is solid real metal ... virtually indestructible. It provides multiple points of articulation ... two in the x-axis with the hexagonal shaft and the mic holder clamp screw; one in the y-axis with the hexagonal shaft; and, of course, z-axis once the articulating mic holder clamp is attached. This well-designed clamp is in 'beast mode' just as, for an example, the Triad-Obit stands.

very useful on stage and all around kit. I was concerned, having read a review about gashes in drum when mounted to rim, but if mounted on outermost teeth, does not appear to be a problem that I can see. I like that it's "universal" for a variety of mic holders or other accessories with mic threads. Getting 4 more soon.
