Possessed of the classic 80s vibe that dominated the sound of many hair bands and glam rock groups, the SD9 helps you find the sweet spot between tube amp and transistor solid state amp characteristics. Based on the original pedal that was produced in the 80s, this spectacular reissue features enhancements that provide better tone control, lengthy sustains, and a more responsive interface.These pedals are remarkably close to the originals in terms of their overall design. The chassis is assembled in the vintage stompbox style and made of strong zinc alloy that holds up to intense sessions night after night. It is compact and may be chained with other guitar effects in your gear collection. The portability of the pedal is well-suited to double duty on the stage and in the studio, and it performs great when used with home recording software. It requires a single 9V battery or compatible 9V power supply for operation.As durable as the SD-9 is, its functionality and tone is what made it a favorite of many guitarists. From there, the signal proceeds to a transistor that functions as high input/low input impedance.     Smooth lead tones for days

    Best distortion pedal ever? Possibly. It’s very hot and aggressive, the typical settings are output on full, tone between 0 and maybe 1 and distortion between 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock. Tone above that becomes brutal, haven’t played around with that, maybe a world of high-gain madness in there. Set as suggested gives you smooth, articulate lead tone, familiar sounding being as the top studio players use it. I love mine!

    SD 9 MAXON

    I'd been playing trough quite a few overdrive and distortion pedals in the past 20 years. I can't name them and don't want to either. The SD9 just sounds the best for me playing kind of fusion and blues music. It's got top and bottom end, versatile enough ,I mean goes from overdrive to real distortion. If I really want to drive it I add an EP booster to it. And one more thing if it's good enough for Mr Scott Henderson or my old teacher Mr John Bush then it should be good enough to me as well. Shouldn't it ?

    Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion

    I love the versatility of this pedal. It sound great as an overdrive with a little bit of hair on it, and it sounds amazing with heavy drive tones. The True-bypass lets me put it in front of my fuzz without any sonic issues. If I had the pedalboard real estate, I would consider using two of them. If my pedal board ever was stolen, this is the first pedal that I'd replace. Bill Sig
