    Walton's

I grew up with the Waltons. There are core values and morals taught in this series and I now sit and watch with my grandchilden. We love watching as a family. The world could use a few life lessons from here.

  • The wonderful world of the Waltons! 2nd Season

I loved watching the Waltons when I was growing up. I, too, come from a large family and can identify with the sacrifices the Waltons are willing to make for each other. Sometimes, it means extra time, or effort, or even availability. It seems that having such a huge support system, someone knows when something isn't right. Usually it is brought to the attention of the others...who also care! The Waltons show deep love for family despite the hardships of growing up in the depression. In fact, the Walton parents are joyful of the coming birth of the new Walton...not afraid...not "can't afford it"...just accepting and joyful. The entire family rejoices! Now, THAT is family! One episode in the second season was a bit creepy for me. It is called "The Ghost" and it involves a gameboard ...

  • The greatest Family Drama in TV History

The long-running series "The Waltons" was the high-water mark in Family Drama on Television, realistically depicting the life of a close-knit rural family during the Great Depression. No matter what your religious beliefs or lifestyle are (you need not be white Southern Baptist like the characters) you will find powerful moral lessons and well-written compelling stories about John-Boy, his many siblings, his parents and his grandparents. The entire cast is splendid and the acting first-rate. Veteran Hollywood character actors Will Geer and Ellen Corby are a sheer delight as the fun-loving Grandpa Walton (Geer) and the sternly religious (but loving) Grandma Walton (Corby.) Only in the later years when they replaced John-Boy with a new actor and the original writers left did the series go ...

  • You need this set!

Excellent family and historical stories about a large family in the great depression of post 1929. Interesting life stories with out a vulgar word or sexual statement. We can watch it with the kids and everyone is entertained! The Walton family actually says a blessing at dinner; now ya know that would not be allowed on todays TV! IF you are sick of the constant sex, vulgarity, violence, cop shows, medical shows, reality shows (that are dumb beyond belief (except survivor)) endless talk/advice shows and the totally annoying paid programs.... stock up on the Waltons, nice break from TV today!

  • Thought Provoking, Discussion Starting Shows

Throughout this series, members of the Walton family face various issues which are still relevant to life today. Set in the Depression years, topics raised in each episode provide material for family discussion. Hospitality, parents, the elderly, faith, pets, mercy, and "the recipe", are issues that kids (and adults) deal with often. I have found that some of the episodes are less believable, such as the one called "The Sinner". In it, Olivia (Ma) lets a preacher berade her children and call them to repent, while her husband tries to defend the kids. I don't think there's too many moms who would relate to Olivia in this case (she does come around later). There are still several ideas that would provide good topics of family discussion. It is fun to watch the Walton family ...
