The acting is bad. The special effects are practically non-existent. The radioactive dogs are, well, plain old dogs. But I liked this movie a lot --- and here's why. The story was easy to follow, it wasn't shot in total darkness, it wasn't gory, and most of what the tourists encountered was believable. In other words, a pack of wild dogs doesn't have to be demonically possessed in order to kill you, and being stranded miles from civilization in a foreign country is, in itself, pretty frightening. The setting of the abandoned town was appropriately creepy, and I liked the Russian tour guide. As for the tourists, they were generic pretty people in their twenties, and I didn't form an emotional attachment to any of them. This is a good thing, because it didn't upset me when they died. Rather than viewing this as a horror movie, I enjoyed it the way I enjoy visiting Alcatraz. I felt like I was touring an actual abandoned site near Chernobyl, and although bad things happened there in the past, I could explore it today without being in danger myself.Read full review
Chernobyl Diairies was released in theatres in 2012 and on cable in 2013. It stars mostly forgettable actors and centers around a visit to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant that went critical in Russia in 1986. A group of yuppies who are traveling across Europe decide to go on "an extreme" trip and visit a supposedly abandoned town next door to the reactor. Naturally, giant bears, monster fish, radioactive dingos, and zombie monsters soon appear to eat our cast and chase them through the spooky empty town. Chernobyl Diaries starts out terribly with little in the way of endearing the cast to the audience. I was almost instantly annoyed by the yuppies but liked the stereotypical Russian tour guide. I never cared about the yuppies and really just kept watching to see how they died. The sets were actually pretty good and somewhat spooky. The film was shot in Hungaria and Serbia and certainly looked and felt right for the movie. I liked the premise to a point, liked the sets, and some of the chase scenes through the town were pretty good too. However, the movie lacked a decent plot, quality acting, and an actual nemesis. The CGI bear was terrible, the scary dogs weren't scary, and the radioactive zombie monsters were ridiculous. Yes, I watched the whole movie to the end and I know what the monsters were and that made this movie even worse. If you're looking for an ok at best movie with a few scares then look no further.Read full review
Chernobyl Diaries is a really cool movie I enjoy the scenery of the old amusement park and the City of Pripyat. I hope to take a tour of there one day. Three couples take a tour with a guide named Yuri ex-ukrainian military. And soon realize that they are all alone and no one can help them as they discover the hidden truth about Chernobyl. 🤓💀

This movie gets mixed reviews, some like it others think it's a waste of time. I liked it because it keeps your attention from beginning to end. This is not a big budget horror film, but it will get your attention. It has everything you would expect from the aftermath of a nuclear disaster. As for the DVD it came in great shape and it arrived very quickly, thanks so much.
