I love the structure of this introductory programming book. It begins with procedural programming and builds up sufficient background to give the reader confidence in object-oriented programming, which comprises the latter half of the book. It makes no assumptions about prior programming experience, but nonetheless progresses at a good pace. The first few chapters can be skimmed if you are switching to Java from a procedural language, but you should take note of all the special information boxes as they provide very useful background or historical information that will give you a better understanding of the language and why it works the way it does.
The authors’ approach is one of the best I have encountered. Although it is a college textbook, the book is a good resource for an experienced programmer adding Java to their skill set. Sometimes an experienced programmer needs to be reminded to use a ‘Back to Basics Approach’.
i love this book...one of the easiest book to understand JAVA. I tried different textbook, and it shows a really complicated grammar, and hard to assimilate the information. In the other hand, this book (Building Java Programs) is awesome. A+++++++
Umm.. its Brand new.. I dont see any difference between this international version and the normal version.. great book, explains java pretty well..
