The book was in good condition but I was misled into purchasing this product. The search feature on the website led me to this book but it was actually an earlier edition. By the time I clicked purchase, it was too late when I noticed that I ordered an earlier edition. It was not the end of the world, the version was pretty similar but some of the problems in the back were different. As I searched more on half.com for more books. I noticed this same "bait and switch" approach. I would search for one book but get another very similar text book in the search results. I'm not trying to blame half.com because I was the one who pulled the trigger and made the purchase but I don't know if I will be using this service again. I don't want to spend a lot of time trying to make sure that I'm purchasing what I expect to purchase. The fact that the search engine provides results for text books that are not exactly what I'm looking for was frustrating and borderlines on deceptive.Read full review
Product provides a question format in the text that does not lead to ultimate conclusions. It leaves a lot of debate that is currently underway in the world of accounting. The problem, though, is that Intermediate accounting is a subject that expands upon the initial accounting cycle - students are trying to just keep pace with the bulk information being chucked their way, let alone being riddled and confused with the complex nature of the politicking done by the AICPA,SEC, and groups. In all, it provided basic "textbook" examples. However, some of the examples in the book do not give exact reasoning - it assumes the student has already taken course series on bonds, stocks, etc. Come prepared if your teacher provides this book. With more than one circumstance I had to resort back to my introductory accounting text to find out what was actually being asked.Read full review
I bought this book because the actual textbook costs $200 or more, and this is a PDF version for only $25. I love the price, obviously, especially since I am a college student covering all of my own expenses (no loans, grants, etc.). Books are usually so expensive so this was a nice find. The only thing I don't like about it is that, when reading the book, I have to read it on the computer (unless I print out pages). I knew I would have to, and it is a trade off of price. Also, I don't know if there IS a glossary in the book, but there isn't one included with this which is a little frustrating. I use glossaries a lot! All in all, I definitely recommend this if you are looking to save a LOT of money!
This book is very helpful for any accounting student and gives a very good array of examples that help illustrate ideas to students. The book also has a large amount of problems and questions that can help re-enforce material and can help you figure out what you may have a problem with. My professor only works with this book, and for a good reason: it's the best book for accounting students.
Intermediate Accounting is very expensive that costs about $160.00 for used edition ($200 above for new one). The book weighs more than 6 pounds (1,440 pages). That is very heavy book to bring to anywhere. But this book includes many detail accounting information, most students and employed accountants can find the basic knowledge from their reading. Good luck! Have a nice accounting experience!
