Although you may not have a choice with this book, since it's a textbook required for classes, it is not well written. The pictures are interesting, but the surplus of adjectives, (words like exemplary, astounding, scintillating etc.) make the book a slow and frustrating read. Trying to pick out the facts you'll be tested on out of the over excitement of the author is difficult. Luckily, many key terms are italicized. Out of a twist of fate, the theatre class I was taking got canceled, so I didn't have to read past chapter three, but even reading to there was hard. I could only read a few pages at a time and then I'd have to take a break. (and by a few I mean 11 at most.) Most chapters in the book are around 30 pages. Don't leave reading these chapters to the last minute!
The book has been very educational and informative in regards to the background of Theatre. I have been able to see Theatre in a completely different way, just by taking the time to read this edition. =]]
I bought this book, Theatre by Robert Cohen (2007, Paperback, Brief)for my daughter who is a student at University at Martin, I was empressed with the quality of the book and the time fram in which it was acquired.
