What is good: Bracelet, case polishing, dial lume, well known seiko model, display case back, made in japan model. Bracelet easy to resize, 42mm is a good size for this watch. Reliable and proven movement What is bad: My 7S36 movement was losing 25 secs a day and had beat error of 2.0. I had to regulate it myself. Now it keeps great time. Could do without the Seiko "5" logo. Chapter ring alignment is slightly askew, Seiko is notorious for this

Watch was for my dad's 91st. b-day. I wanted something easy to read, use, and had the features that he wanted....large numbers, and a date/day function; no other bells and whistles needed. Simplicity. That said, it wasn't easy to set-up, per the instructions....which are marginal. It takes 3-5 times+ just to "get it"....for using the crown stem to set time, date, day, and language. Not easy.

I ordered this model because it came with the bracelet and more importantly, is made in Japan. The movement is tuned well and it's very accurate for an automatic movement. The day has two language choices English or Arabic. the sides of the body and the side of the bezel are polished while the top of the watch has a brushed finish. The bracelet is squeaky but that was quickly resolved by melting wax on the bracelet when detached from the watch. Although I like the bracelet as an option, I installed a light brown leather strap and the watch looks even better! My only gripe is that the second hand doesn't isn't long enough to get close to the minute markers. I expect that I would have the second hand replaced with something longer and perhaps all red if I get it modified with a sapphire crystal down the line. The size is a solid medium, which I like for my 7" wrist. The quality and finish are very good and I'm impressed with the value of this Seiko field style watch. The only true negative is the shape of the back of this watch - it looks to be the same caseback as the smaller SNK models so if the bracelet is a tad loose, the watch sits on your wrist slightly canted since the case back to body transition is rather abrupt. I got used to this and the watch grows on me more as I wear it. In the dark , the glowing hour markers makes more sense being so far from the second hand. I still highly recommend this watch!Read full review

Seiko is the first high quality watch I ever bought. That was over 30 years ago. I wore it while commercial fishing, which is a harsh environment, and loved it. Then somewhere along the line I strayed into other watch manufacturers, I became a miser. I'm very happy to be back with Seiko and back in love with my watch. No I don't own a Subaru lol.
