Pros: Small; easy to install on windshield; excellent image quality. Cons: Lane Departure Warning not consistent. I am very pleased with the Gamin Dash Cam 45. It was easy to install and mostly intuitive in operation. I am especially pleased with the video quality when displayed on my iPad and desktop. The Lane Departure Warning feature is not consistent in my case; however, I have not used it much yet so may need some adjusting of the units angle. The unit is small but that is an advantage to reduce distraction. The power cable was long enough to route over the windshield, around the door molding and down to the DC receptacle behind the center console. I printed the Owner's Manual from the Garmin web site to understand all its features and functions.

It is easy to use. The menus are intuitive and easy to navigate. The magnetic windshield attachment works fine. I wish Garmin would have included more than one magnet so I could easily move the dash cam between cars. I have to buy extra magnetic mounts one for each car :( As for the video, the quality is adequate. The only thing I don't like about the videos is this dash cam stores the videos in one minute segments. To watch the last 10 minutes of a car trip you record you would need to watch 10 individual 1 minute videos. Each 1 minute video consumes between 60-80 MB of storage. So the 8GB memory card included with my dash cam can store between 90 and 120 minutes of video.

Great unit, easily fits in my pocket its that small! Great picture quality and features. Wish wifi sharing with app worked for pictures without stopping recording. Timelapse mode is neat. My dash cam was hardwired/installed for $50 at GeekSquad which means it can record when parked. Parking mode obviously won't be a catchall and isn't necessarily the biggest selling point as you will not see vandalism or impacts occuring behind the camera. But the chance that you may catch that is worth it. If anything I like the idea that if thieves are checking cars as they often do I might be able to lend some support to Law Enforcement in figuring out potential suspects and their patterns. Video is crisp and works well at all hours. You will definitely not regret getting this dash cam.

The garmin works fine my only concern is that it heats up a little I took it to get it checked I was told that these garmin dash cam heat up cause they have low 4gb sd cards and they work better with 32 or 64 class 10 sd card and the phone needs to be paired to the camera it takes like 3 minutes to paired now I drive for hours and only gets warm the most but works great.

I've been using it for few days now. Very small and discrete dashcam, has few good features you won't find in other brands, all kind of alerts, smartphone share through internal wifi, ect. This cam actual has a power cable long enough to be placed discretely under dashboard and around the windshield, no need to buy additional one. Good feature would be a polarized filter to make images clearer in a sunny day, garmin does not offer any filters, so I have to adapt third party filters found online which don't fit directly. So far I'm pleased with this cam and would recommend to anyone.
