I use this amp with vintage Hi Z microphones for that classic gritty Chicago blues harmonica sound, produces a wonderful tone for that and usually without using the distortion knob much (depends on the microphone though). I also like playing my electric ukuleles on it because I can turn up the squeal knob and make it fuzzy and my other cheap amps won't. Pretty clean and warm, no hum or interference, alot of volume. Solid build, cool looks. Haven't ever seen the red low battery light come on yet and I use it (and charge it) everyday. Not for bass (see photos for owners manual). I liked it so much that I immediately bought like, 20 old Hi Z microphones just to play harmonicas on it. 6 stars for sure.

This product does exactly what I wanted it to. I have to play a wedding with my acoustic at an outdoor event this week where there is no electricity. With an acoustic guitar, you do have to watch where you place it because it will feedback if you're not positioned correctly, but that's no problem because I'm outside. The squeal knob is pretty much worthless to me, but maybe it's better with a solid body electric. I purchased a battery operated ZOOM MS-50G pedal, just to add some eq, compression, chorus, delay and reverb to the Pignose and I couldn't be happier with the results -- especially when you consider that this is a battery operated amp.

When I got it a wire was disconnected from the battery. I replaced the wire and it worked fine.
